Mud Flap Studio
Michael Griffin- Artist Statement:
I am a self taught potter who just loves to work with clay. If I see a cool form, I go home and do my best to recreate it. I have learned so much from studying other potters on youtube and practicing the different techniques shown. I like my work to blur the line between art and functional pottery. I want my pottery to serve as a useful piece or even be displayed on a shelf. My pieces are constantly changing as I am always experimenting with surface texture, glazes, and different forms of functional pottery. Therefore, each piece is one-of-a-kind and cannot be duplicated. I ultimately want people to look at and use my ceramics, and smile.

Kristin Buchholz- Artist Statement:
I am a full-time Art Teacher and new mom, so I have very little time to make my own art right now. I have a fine arts degree from Syracuse University in printmaking and bookmaking, and a masters degree in education from Harvard University. If I could, I'd draw, paint, and make books all the time. I do love to work with clay and dabble in it now and then, especially with my students at Genesee Valley. I hope to use clay slabs to create relief prints in the future and incorporate those images into books. For now, I have some drawings that were made as demonstrations for students and a few books shown here. I hope to make some more work this summer! Thanks for visiting our site and taking an interest in our work!
